Save the Children in Aceh

Aceh was the closest point of land to the epicenter of the earthquake that caused the tsunami on December 26th. In Aceh 130.000 people died and thousands are still missing. About half a million became homeless.

Aceh has not just been affected by the tsunami. A bloody conflict has been going on for three decades. But the tsunami led to a peace agreement between the Indonesian goverment and GAM (Free Aceh Movement) on August 15th 2005.
